  • 1 loaf French bread, cubed
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup butter (for sauce)
  • 1 cup sugar (for sauce)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sauce)
  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Place bread cubes in dish.

Whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Pour over bread.

Stir in raisins and melted butter.

Let soak 15 minutes, then bake 45-50 minutes until set.

For sauce: melt butter with sugar in saucepan.

Whisk in beaten egg and cook until thickened.

Remove from heat and stir in bourbon.
