Ingredients
Shop the tools- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, and salt.
Add wet ingredients to dry and mix until smooth.
Divide batter between pans and bake 30-35 minutes.
Cool completely.
For frosting: beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy.
Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until smooth.
Frost cooled cake layers.
