Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
Add okra and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
Simmer 20-25 minutes until okra is tender and mixture has thickened.
Adjust seasoning to taste.
Garnish with fresh basil and serve.
