Ingredients

Shop the tools
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup mashed cooked sweet potato, cooled
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter for brushing

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.

Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Mix sweet potato and buttermilk together.

Stir into flour mixture until just combined.

Turn onto floured surface and knead gently 3-4 times.

Pat to 3/4-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.

Place on prepared baking sheet and brush tops with melted butter.

Bake 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Serve warm with butter and honey.
