Ingredients

Shop
  • 2 lbs beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 cups cooked rice

Instructions

1

Season beef with salt and pepper, toss with flour.

2

Heat oil in a large skillet and brown beef in batches. Remove.

3

Add onion and mushrooms to skillet, cook until softened.

4

Add garlic and cook 1 minute.

5

Return beef to skillet with broth, Worcestershire, thyme, and bay leaves.

6

Bring to simmer, cover, and cook 1-1.5 hours until beef is tender.

7

Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning.

8

Serve over hot cooked rice.

Chef's Comfy Tip

Browning the beef in batches prevents overcrowding and ensures a nice sear, which adds tons of flavor to the gravy.
