Ingredients

Shop the tools
  • 8 thick slices bologna (1/4-inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 slices white bread
  • Yellow mustard
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • Dill pickle chips (optional)
  • 1 tomato, sliced (optional)

Instructions

1

Make 3-4 small cuts around the edge of each bologna slice to prevent curling.

2

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

3

Fry bologna slices 2-3 minutes per side until edges are crispy and browned.

4

Toast bread if desired. Spread mustard on bread slices.

5

Place two bologna slices on each sandwich.

6

Top with cheese, pickles, and tomato if using.

7

Close sandwiches and serve immediately.

Chef's Comfy Tip

Cut small slits in the bologna before frying to keep it flat in the pan.
