Rinse livers and trim any connective tissue.
Soak in buttermilk for 30 minutes in refrigerator.
Mix flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper, cayenne, and garlic powder.
Heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F in large skillet.
Remove livers from buttermilk and dredge in flour mixture.
Fry in batches 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with hot sauce and white bread.

Don't overcook them! Livers should be slightly pink in the center for the best texture and flavor.
