Ingredients

  • 3 lbs chicken pieces
  • 4 cups cold sweet tea
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Marinate chicken in sweet tea for 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

Drain chicken and soak in buttermilk for 30 minutes.

Mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.

Heat oil to 325°F in a large cast iron skillet or Dutch oven .

Dredge chicken in seasoned flour, coating well.

Fry chicken in batches, dark meat 14-16 minutes, white meat 12-14 minutes.

Drain on a wire rack over a baking sheet . Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
